"They Don't Care About Us" is a song by the American singer Michael Jackson, released on April 8, 1996, in the UK, and April 23 in the US. It was the fourth single from Jackson's ninth album, HIStory: Past, Present and Future, Book I (1995). The initial release contained ethnic slurs, triggering accusations of antisemitism. Jackson issued an apology, saying the lyrics had been intended to draw attention to social injustice, and then altered future copies. Two music videos were directed by Spike Lee.
